'Our Country's Good' - Disability Friendly Theatre comes to Sheffield

Our Country’s Good tells the extraordinary true story of a group of convicts and a young officer who rehearse and perform a play – producing Australia’s first theatrical production. With opposition from the officers and a leading lady who may be hanged, the odds are stacked against them.

Our Country’s Good is both a comedy and a powerful drama, but what makes this production extra special is its innovative use of audio description, signing and captions.

This production will be in Sheffield from 12th May – 19th May, and has been produced in conjunction with Ramps on the Moon, an organisation working towards the inclusion and integration of Deaf and disabled individuals in the UK theatre sector.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
