Open Letter To NHS On Disabled People’s Human Rights Gains Nearly 2,000 Signatories

Open Letter To NHS On Disabled People’s Human Rights Gains Nearly 2,000 Signatories

Nearly 2,000 people have signed an open letter to NHS England, stating the need for the rights of disabled people to be upheld during the Coronavirus crisis.

Following growing concerns about treatment and triaging for disabled people, the letter – published on the Disability Rights UK website – reminds those in authority how the NHS is built on the principle that we are each equal in dignity and how it has a commitment to protect rights to life and to health, no matter who we are.

The letter can be found here and you can add your name to it by signing here. Disability Sheffield has signed the letter.

The National Medical Director and Chief Nursing Officer for NHS England has issued a response and Baroness Jane Campbell has in turn responded to this.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
