Support Through Court is a charity that provides practical and emotional support for anyone going through the civil or family court alone. The charity is now based at the University of Sheffield and has expanded its service.
Their volunteers offer practical, procedural and emotional support in many areas of civil and family court processes either face to face ( appointment only ), by video or on the phone.
They can:
- Explain how the court works, help fill in forms, organise papers, and discuss settling issues without going to court
- Help clients plan what they want to say in court, and if needed, go with them to court to provide support and help afterwards.
- Provide details of other specialist advice agencies, where possible, and help clients find out whether they can get free legal advice.
Please note the charity does not provide legal advice or support with criminal cases.
