National Emergency Services Museum Sensory Friendly Days

New for 2019 the National Emergency Services Museum (NESM) team are working alongside the Autism Centre for Supported Employment to bring new opening days suitable for visitors with various sensory needs.

Throughout the museum they will use lights, sounds, smoke and smells to bring history to life.

Visitors can borrow their all-new sensory backpacks for their visits. There will also be comfy chill out zones on each floor.

Additionally, they will open with additional staff and have “lights only” times.

The Museum at West Bar Sheffield S3 8PT will open on the first Tuesday of every month from 10:00 to 16:00 starting on Tuesday April 2nd to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day

Sessions:
10:00 – 12:30 “Lights only” quiet sessions
12:30 – 16:00 Lights, sounds and smells

For more information see the Sensory Friendly Days Flyer.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
