Invitation to the SIV Steering Group

Do you have an interest in sport and leisure activities and/or the entertainment sector and a passion for inclusivity? If so you may be interested in coming along to the next meeting of the SIV ( Sheffield International Venues ) steering group on Friday 8th March from 10am to 12 noon at Pond’s Forge International Sport Centre, Sheaf Street Sheffield S1 2BP.

The steering group is made up of disabled people or people with long term health needs, Disability Sheffield and SIV management. The group uses their expertise and knowledge to guide SIV with clear and concise guidance on how it can be more inclusive for disabled people in its policies, processes and programmes. This is a service which needs to be inclusive of a wide range of needs and your input will help create a better service.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved and contribute to a new way of working – something that could implications for people’s health and wellbeing locally and nationally.

As a steering group member you will
Have access to a number of benefits (dependent upon personal needs and preferences) to include:
 Free / discounted membership to SIV venues
 Free access to SIV activities including swimming, ice skating and others
 Free lifeCARD including member discounts on SIV activities and food
 Tickets to selected shows at Sheffield Arena and City Hall
 Partner vouchers (e.g. Meadowhall, Fit Co)
 Refreshments at meetings
 More TBC

Skills, knowledge and experience to be a member
 Lived experience of disabilities or people with long term health needs
 Interest in physical activity/leisure/entertainment sector
 Passion for inclusivity
 Expertise in, and experience of developing user/person-led initiatives and change is advantageous
 Willingness to, and experience of, working with people who have different experiences and views to deliver collaborative change
