Teaching professionals and members of the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) service are invited to a seminar about the effects of hydrocephalus – a condition caused by an accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain – on children’s learning and behaviour.
The condition, which affects one to two out of every thousand newborns, can cause impairments in children such as learning and physical disabilities. However the severity can differ considerably and some children can be of average or above average intelligence. It can also be acquired after birth as a result of head traumas or meningitis.
The seminar, organised by the charity Shine Shine, in collaboration with the hydrocephalus medical teams at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, will take place at the Sheffield offices of Irwin Mitchell, Millsands, Sheffield S3 on Wednesday October 17th from 4.30-6.30pm.
It will include advice on classroom strategies and on maximising the potential of children with hydrocephalus. View flyer and View agenda
