Unless the new government extends the scheme, the Household Support Fund is scheduled to close at the end of September 2024. If you have not claimed a grant in the 3 months before your application you can still apply for financial assistance with the cost of living until then.
The fund can help to support people who are struggling to afford:-
- food and housekeeping costs(groceries, toiletries, baby essentials etc)
telephone and broadband (mobile phones, top-ups, broadband charge etc) - gas and electricity
- clothing, including school uniforms
- white goods
- wider essential needs not linked to energy and water should local authorities consider this appropriate in their area.
Please note it cannot be used for ( amongst other things ) mortgage costs, rent or housing arrears under normal circumstances.
