Disability Rights UK (DRUK) is urging disabled people and organisations to take part in a consultation led by the Commission on Social Security, a group of people with lived experience of the benefits system. They are developing a proposal for an Additional Costs Disability Payment to replace Personal Independence Payment (PIP), aiming to create a fairer, more dignified, and supportive system.
This consultation is separate from the UK Government’s March consultation, which focuses on cutting £3 billion from disability benefits. The Commission seeks to build a system that truly meets disabled people’s needs.
If you’d like to get involved you can take part in an online survey or Zoom focus groups in March (some with BSL interpretation).
