Hate Crime Task Group Report

Sheffield City Council’s Safer and Stronger Communities Scrutiny & Policy Development Committee set up the Hate Crime Task Group in September 2016. The Task Group agreed the focus of their review would be the reporting of hate crime and specifically:

To understand the different ways hate crime can be reported in Sheffield, identifying things that are working well and any areas where improvements could be made.

The Task Group have now drafted their report, which outlines their findings and recommendations. The Task group gathered evidence including:

- Meeting with Sheffield Voices, a self-advocacy group for people with a learning disability supported by Disability Sheffield and viewing their powerful short film that raises awareness of hate crime targeted at disabled people.

- Holding Equality Hub Network events and workshops

You can view the draft Hate Crime Task Group report on the Council’s website .

Disability Sheffield has produced an Easy Read Summary of the report for Sheffield Voices here .
