Good Vibrations - Thank you for your Dance Donations

Good Vibrations - Thank you for your Dance Donations

Dance music fans took steps to raise more than £700 for Disability Sheffield by taking part in a lockdown disco.

Our wonderful Cycling 4 All project co-ordinator Tom Collister was DJing on 25th April at the live virtual Vibrations party .

Each week different DJs play both on an audio stream and on Zoom in aid of a different charity each week.

So we would like to say a big thank you to Tom and everyone who ‘boogied with a smile’ and danced along.

Over the last 20 years Tom has been putting on parties at clubs and venues in Sheffield, Leeds and North Wales with other music lovers under the title Vibrations. Since lockdown began, Vibrations has been happening every Saturday night on Zoom, with people tuning in and sharing their screens so people can see each other dancing and feel a part of the event. Every week whoever is DJing nominates a charity to raise money for and people chip in, if they can afford it, as a show of appreciation for their Saturday night’s entertainment.

On the week that Tom – AKA Moonmonkey – was playing the tracks, they raised £730 for Disability Sheffield to buy Personal Protective Equipment for carers and to buy sports equipment to help Sheffield Cycling 4 All’s cyclists stay active whilst confined to their homes.

The Vibrations At Your House events take place on Saturday nights between 8-11pm. You can get the events on audio and the Zoom link provided on their Facebook page on the night will provide you with the visuals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
