Further Reactions to the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill

Following Disability Sheffield joining over one hundred organisations in signing an open letter to Ministers criticising the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill, several prominent continuing concerns with the Bill have been raised.

Jonathan Senker, Chief Executive of VoiceAbility argues that the Bill still requires far-reaching change in his article, Safeguarding rights or taking liberties?

Rhidian Hughes, Chief Executive of Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG), sets out a number of concerns with the Bill including the key human rights issues, in his article, Shifting power and undermining human rights, why draft laws on mental capacity are a universal cause for concern.

Changing Our Lives, an organisation working to protect and promote the rights of disabled people and people with mental health problems, have raised four outstanding concerns in their article discussing the Bill.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
