Friends are Definitely Electric !

Friends are Definitely Electric !

The next and very popular ‘Are Friends Electric?’ club afternoon is coming up on Sunday July 13th, from 2pm – 5pm, at the Samuel Worth Chapel, The Gatehouse, Cemetery Avenue, Sheffield S11 8NT.

‘Are Friends Electric?’ is a Synthpop, Futurepop, and Darkwave club night, hosted by Isaac White and dad Stuart White (with contributions from other DJs). Isaac is living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Isaac says “We celebrate diversity, foregrounding the full participation of people living with additional needs.

We play classic hits, overlooked gems, and tracks that came out yesterday. In the spirit of early Synthpop, with its sense of an open and positive future, we aim to build a space for music, dance, and art that is open and inclusive.

If you want to dance in Joy Division’s atmosphere, open your heart with The Human League, celebrate defiance with VNV Nation, AND feel love with Donna Summer, this is an afternoon for you. Welcome!”.

There’s a £5 entry cost with proceeds to Duchenne’s. Isaac is keen to extend the nightlife options for people like him living with additional needs. The club night is supported by Under the Stars.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
