Free Personal Development Programme At Sheffield College

The Prince’s Trust – an organisation set up to help vulnerable youngsters make their way in life – has launched a new personal development programme in conjunction with Sheffield College.

The programme is open to 16 to 25-year-olds who are neither in work or full-time education but would like the chance to gain new skills, work towards gaining qualifications and build their confidence. It is free, open to disabled people and taking part will not affect JSA. Among the activities will be the chance to work on a project aimed at improving your local area, taking part in a residential trip, attending a work placement and learning how to do CVs, job applications and interviews. There will be intakes each year in September, January and May. View Poster

The programme includes supporting learners to set personal targets, having speakers/external visitors, practical fun sessions, go on trips out and much more! We are based at The Sheffield College, Peaks campus and as such learners can apply for support for travel and food money depending on their circumstances. The dates for September are:

14th September 2018, 10:30am- Taster day (not compulsary- but recommended!)
24th September 2018, 10am- Day One

Learners should arrange to meet with Sheffield College at any location before starting the programme to check their suitability for the programme and will also be accepting learners throughout week one (capacity permitting).

For more information, or to refer a young person, you can email nataliejackson@sheffcol.ac.uk or telephone or text 07825 823 621.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
