Sheffield’s Festival Of Debate is not letting the coronavirus crisis make the talking stop – and instead has gone totally online.
The festival, founded in 2015, usually features a series of panel discussions, debates, Q&As, artistic responses, keynote speeches and other public events exploring politics, economics and society.
However social distancing rules set up because of Covid-19 has meant that some events have had to be cancelled but luckily others are still going ahead live on the internet under the title Festival Of Debate Online. Here is the full list of events.
One item already posted is entitled Should we be concerned about what happens to our data in the context of Covid? and features Professor Helen Kennedy from Sheffield University talking about potential privacy problems caused by contact tracing.
The organisers intend to reschedule some in-person Festival of Debate events over the autumn period but due to the uncertainty around social distancing restrictions they foresee not being able to announce these events until July/August.
