Emily's A Star Turn In Charity Awards

Emily's A Star Turn In Charity Awards

We are so proud that our brilliant Chief Executive Officer, Emily Morton, has set a shining example by being recognised as a star in a prestigious charity awards.

Small Charity Week, which took place from June 14-19th this year, celebrates and raises awareness of the essential work of the UK’s small charity sector.Led by the Small Charities Coalition ( SCC ) the campaign invited nominations to showcase some of the UK’s unsung heroes from small charities, sharing their stories and achievements, asking “Has there been someone from your organisation who has shone like a star? Who has reached the moon and done the impossible, achieved the impossible and rocketed to new heights?”

Emily was chosen as one of the ‘SCC Stars for 2021’ out of 130 nominations . She received a star in her name and her nomination was published on the organisation’s social media pages.

With her usual modesty Emily said “It feels like it is an award in recognition of everyone at Disability Sheffield .I am so blessed to work for such an amazing charity with fantastic people. The star is for everyone.”

We know that Emily fully deserves this award herself for all her hard work and is our shining and guiding star. Congratulations Emily!

The Small Charities Coalition has its own Facebook page through which you can see the full list of winners

Emily’s star and nomination was posted on their FB page on 19 June.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
