Confused by Universal Credit? Want to ensure that you and others who will be receiving it know the rules? If so a workshop taking place in Sheffield next month could be for you.
The training and advocacy workshop has been arranged by the Sheffield branch of Disabled People Against Cuts ( DPAC ) and aims to educate people in how to claim and know the rules for the controversial benefit, which was designed by the Coalition Government in 2011 to replace six other benefits including Income-based Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit and Income Support. The original plan was to roll Universal Credit out across the UK by 2017 but a series of problems have left it at least five years behind schedule.
A DPAC Sheffield spokesperson said: “Whether you’re in or out of work or even retired, a carer or in a community group this will affect everybody. So come along and make sure you help yourself and others”,
The workshop takes place at The Burton Street Foundation, 57 Burton Street, Hillsborough, Sheffield S6 2HH, on Saturday July 14th, from 10am-4pm. There are only 30 places at the workshop so you are advised to book early.
