Do you Care on Carers Rights Day

Do you Care on Carers Rights Day

The theme for Carers Rights Day 2020 today, Thursday 26 November is ‘Know Your Rights’ .

This Carers Rights Day, Carers UK want to empower carers with information and support, so they can feel confident asking for what they need and know how to challenge things when their rights are not being met.

Carers need to know their rights wherever they are in their caring journey, whether in the workplace, in a healthcare setting, when interacting with professionals or at home.

Sheffield Young Carers and Sheffield Carers Centre have made a series of campaign videos to mark Carers Rights Day. They want carers to understand they are not alone and that every carer has rights which can help to make their lives easier.

Along with Sheffield City Council they are sharing the short videos featuring brief, anonymised quotes from carers and using the hashtag #KnowYourRights.

The social media posts highlight generic rights for carers: to be recognised, to be supported and to take a break. All social posts and press will aim to direct carers (of all ages) to their campaign website at www.doyoucare.co.uk .

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
