Disabled Staff Disproportionately Affected By Covid

Disabled Staff Disproportionately Affected By Covid

Disabled people in the UK have been disproportionately exposed to COVID-19 in the workplace, according to research conducted in Sheffield.

Dr Mark Bryan, Dr Andrew Bryce and Professor Jennifer Roberss from the Department of Economics at the University Of Sheffield are the academics involved in the work done with The Health Foundation..

The report says that: “despite their higher clinical vulnerability, disabled people in employment in the UK were significantly more likely to be going out to work during the pandemic rather than working from home, and were working in occupations that were more exposed to COVID-19 than the occupations of non-disabled workers.”

It also calls for questions about whether there are sufficient safeguards for disabled people in the workplace, and the longer-term implications for a labour market where COVID-19 is a persistent health issue.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
