Disability Union Launches Skills Academy

Disability Union Launches Skills Academy

The Disability Union, which describes itself as ‘the first union by and for disabled people and carers,’ has launched a Skills Academy. It will enable members to access over 700 courses ranging from employability skills to new vocational accredited qualifications.

They are introducing the skills Academy as a pilot study – working with Staff Skills Training – to discover how many members would access it, and a 100 places are available on a first come first served basis.

The Disability Union says: “We are uncompromising when it comes to diversity and inclusion. We believe wholeheartedly in two core principles: None of us are free until we are all free. And Nothing about us, without us.” You can join the Disability Union here and then you can access the courses available.

To find out more about the courses or register for one email
skillsacademy@disabilityunion.co.uk

The Union also has its own Facebook and Twitter pages.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
