Disability Hub Meeting

Disability Hub, part of the Equality Hub Network Wednesday 27 September 2017 10.30pm to 1.00pm Ground Floor Conference Room, The Circle, Rockingham Lane

The next meeting of the Disability Hub, part of the Equality Hub Network, is this coming Wednesday 27 September 2017. The meeting runs this time in the morning from 10.30 am until 1 pm, Ground Floor Conference Rooms, The Circle, Rockingham Lane S1 4FW

Please have a look at the DH Agenda agenda put together by the organising group for next week. Also attaching the Meeting Notes from June to bring you up to date together with the Priority Issues and Planning for the Disability Hub Feedback from Breakout Session .

South Yorkshire Police (SYP) will be visiting us to talk about their Independent Advisory Group. SYP Officers in Sheffield want a disabled person who lives in the city a chance to offer valuable input on how our communities are policed and how they can better meet citizen’s needs. The Independent Advisory Group (IAG) aims to discuss the impacts of policing on different communities and look at ways in which improvements can be made to the policing the diverse communities within Sheffield.

A/Chief Inspector Shak Ahmed, said: “As a member of the IAG you’ll offer us helpful and constructive criticism, helping us to build and develop an insight into the needs and wants of communities who may be under-represented in Sheffield. If you think you would like to be involved, or want further information, please email A/CI Ahmed on shakeel.ahmed@southyorks.pnn.police.uk

Cairen Brown from ADASAction Domestic Abuse Service – will be attending the meeting to present on Sanctuary and the domestic abuse service in general would last about 5-10 minutes.

The second half of the meeting will be dedicated to signing off a focused Disability Hub plan with a list of priorities and actions that you as members would like to concentrate on over the next 12 months. I hope this will give all members a voice and will ensure that the Disability Hub moves forward with direction and focus in line with the aims and objectives of the wider Equality Hub Network. Please see the Priority Issues and Planning for the Disability Hub Feedback above, which provides a detailed list of the conversations from the breakout groups form the previous meeting.

This will be another important meeting for the Disability Hub and hopefully you can come and join in with the discussions.

If you have any access requirements or additional needs to attend please let us know in advance. Also, if you can’t make it for any reason and want us to make any comments on your behalf just contact andrew.crooks@disabilitysheffield.org.uk or telephone Andrew on 0114 253 6752.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
