The Department for Transport (DfT) is seeking feedback on a draft accessibility action plan which sets out proposals to improve the travel experience for people with disabilities. It covers a range of transport providers including rail, buses, taxis and aviation, as well as ways to improve the accessibility of public space. There is a link to the consultation here .
Keith Richards, Chair of the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee says:
“DPTAC’s vision is that disabled people should have the same access to transport as everybody else, to be able to go where everyone else goes and to do so easily, confidently and without extra cost.
We very much welcome this consultation and we encourage everyone who has an interest in using transport to feed in your comments. We particularly need the Department for Transport to hear from people who have experienced problems that have put you off travelling that are not tackled in this draft plan, and from those who perceive particular modes of transport as inaccessible so don’t even consider using them.
This is your opportunity to advise, challenge, shape, inspire and influence the Plan and help to bring about change that improves access for disabled people.”
The consultation will run until 15 November 2017.
