Cycling 4 All Update

Cycling 4 All Update

Sheffield Cycling 4 All is riding high with new recruits and volunteers but their activities will be temporarily suspended due to an event named after a different form of transport.

The inclusive cycling project, run by Disability Sheffield , is again offering sessions (which you have to pre-book currently ) in Hillsborough Park Monday to Friday and the last Saturday of every month.

However because of the Tramlines music festival taking place this month, there will be no sessions from July 12th to August 3rd.

However they are still lending out trikes for people to keep at home for up to three months and use at their leisure.

SC4A’s Rosemary Hill said: “Thank you to everyone who has been coming down, it has been brilliant seeing you all, and there are spaces available, so let us know when you’re ready to cycle with us, or if you need any help to get back into it.

“We have been welcoming back our wonderful volunteers, and now have at least one with us each day. This means there is always someone at a session who will be able to cycle with you, and there are some new faces to get to know, as well as the usual suspects.”

They are also looking for people willing to appear in a video talking about your experience of triking AND about the trike itself, or for you to review one of their trikes . Here is an example featuring one of the users, Jim.

*The Boxing 4 All sessions held over the summer have now come to an end but the other sporting and exercise sessions held by SC4A through Zoom are continuing.

These are Yoga 4 All on Tuesdays from 7-8pm, Movement 4 all on Wednesdays from noon-1pm and Dance 4 All on Fridays from noon-1pm.

In the meantime Sheffield Cycling 4 All is extending it’s storage in Hillsborough Park from two to three shipping containers to store more trikes, and more trikes means more cycling!

Rosemary says “This year we are also celebrating our 12th year of riding, and thanks to our new home we hope to have another 10 years to follow, minimum! As part of our celebrations, we are working with Artworks , who will be leading on a mural for our new shipping container doors. We are having a presentation and meeting about what to put on the mural on Wednesday 21st July at 4-5pm. Bring drawings, sketches, words, thoughts, any ideas on what you want to add to the mural.IF you can’t make this meeting do not worry, we can still take any ideas you have and add them in to the mix. “

If you would like to be involved in the mural commission please contact info@sheffieldcycling4all.org or phone or text 07565 695296 or 07922 183338 Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
