If you use public transport in the city then sadly we have been informed of another imminent round of cuts to many services. There is the opportunity to share how these cuts might impact you by joining a public meeting or sending feedback on how this affects you.
These cuts are mainly due to an approximate halving of national government funding to provide buses where commercial companies no longer wish to run them. Many services that are fully paid for by Travel South Yorkshire already will run less frequently; potentially as little as every 2 hours. Additionally, this means nearly all evening services will see cuts to their frequencies; again potentially to as low as every 2 hours. This approach is partly to try and avoid cutting some routes completely.
The Mayor of South Yorkshire is holding public meetings at various locations detailed here . There are also virtual meetings on Friday 22nd September at 10am, Friday 27th October at 10am and Tuesday 31st of October at 12 noon. Register for the virtual events here .
If you feel a separate meeting for disabled people and the care sector would be beneficial then please contact us directly at consultations@disabilitysheffield.org.uk and we will seek to arrange an opportunity to focus on the additional impacts disabled people face.
