The vision for Adult Social Care in Sheffield is to support people to be independent, safe and well. One of their priorities is for Sheffield people to have support that is built around them which is of the highest quality and demonstrates respect, dignity and fairness. The Dignity Awards scheme has been co-produced with current panel members to acknowledge those Adult Social Care staff whose actions make a difference and serve as an example to others. The Adult Social Care Dignity Awards panel are looking to recruit new members due to low numbers and the possible expansion of the awards into other statutory organisations.
Panel members are experts by experience and their role is to shape and co-produce the Dignity Awards process with the Council’s Practice Development Team. View flyer
Panel members are used to screen any nominations received and decide using an agreed scoring system if someone has “benchmarked” to be put forward for a dignity award. The panel then meet the successful nominated individuals and their nominator and/or line manager to present them with their certificates and gain more insight into the work they did in a sort of celebration event.
So far a pilot scheme has run and 10 members of staff in adult social care have been awarded a dignity award ,2 in May 2017, 4 in Nov 2017 and 4 have just been confirmed to receive an award later this month.
