CHANGE, the national learning disability rights charity, are taking part in a research project creating Peer Support Worker roles for people with learning disabilities in care organisations.
CHANGE need your help with their project. Please have a look at this Easy Read newsletter, explaining the project and how you can get involved . The deadline to get your responses in is October 15th.
As part of the project CHANGE is also inviting learning disability advocacy groups to take part in a Skype conversation about employment and employment issues for people with learning disabilities.
They would like to talk about some of the following issues:
- What are the things that stop people with learning disabilities getting into skilled jobs?
- What training can people with learning disability get?
- What projects do you know of that have supported people with learning disabilities getting into work?
- Do you know of any stories of where people with learning disabilities have been employed in skilled jobs?
- How can CHANGE support other organisations to employ people with learning disabilities?
- How can CHANGE support people with learning disabilities to know what they are good at or have experience of?
