Cancer Information Hub at Moor Markets

Vital cancer support is now easy to come by for Sheffield shoppers, thanks to a multi-charity hub set up at the Moor Markets. The pop up stall is at units 56 and 58 of The Moor Market from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday for the next couple of months.

The ground-breaking new service is funded by Macmillan Cancer Support from a bid from Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and was the brainchild of Macmillan Nurse Louise Metcalfe as she desperately searched for new ways of raising cancer awareness across the city. “People can feel intimidated walking into a GP surgery or hospital setting and asking for help. Our shop is completely informal and we just want people to pop in for a chat with us while they’re picking up their shopping. A cancer diagnosis affects every aspect of life, but by bringing together lots of different charities we’ll have information on emotional, physical and financial support available for people.”

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
