Can you Help Develop Neurocare Knowhow?

Can you Help Develop Neurocare Knowhow?

Due to the impact of COVID-19 the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals are leading on a project funded by the Ufi Trust to develop a new online learning tool for care workers who support people with neurological conditions (including Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease).

Neurocare KnowHow will create a digital learning tool for care workers that will be easy to access ‘on the go’ via a smart phone or tablet. Filled with short films and mini-podcasts made with real care workers it will be fun, quick and flexible to use. An antidote to traditional e-learning!

The team has previously developed the award-winning myTube and myBreathing websites at http://www.mymnd.org.uk

From the autumn, Neurocare KnowHow is hosting online co-design workshops with the people who will benefit from the technology and there will be later opportunities to be involved in filming and testing the resource. There will be two workshops online via video call in late October 2020 and Spring 2021.

They are looking for pairs or small groups of people (max of four). This can include:
● A person living with a neurological condition
● One or two of their PAs
● Also perhaps a partner or family member who is an unpaid carer

The information flier and FAQs provide more information about the opportunity and the project.

Please get in touch for more details with Becky (Technology Lead) on 07966 913 562 or Emma (Content Lead) on 07905 896 786 or email info@neurocareknowhow.co.uk

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
