Black History Month Events

It’s Black History Month at the moment, celebrating the contribution made to Britain by black people in the past and in the present.

There are a host of events being held locally in partnership with the African Heritage Culture Forum which aims to showcase the achievements of the city’s African heritage community.

These include a performance at the Lyceum theatre called Rush telling the story of reggae and the Windrush generation, a concert featuring legendary poet Linton Kwesi Johnson and an appearance by the legendary American basketball team The Harlem Globetrotters.

You can see full details of Sheffield events this month here.

The Guardian newspaper has compiled a list of highlights of events around the UK.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
