Sheffield Cycling 4 All is one of several groups which have got together to produce a document explaining how being a bike fan can help you mentally as well as physically.
The local organisation, which comes under Disability Sheffield’s umbrella, has worked in collabaration with Sport For Confidence, Wheels For Wellbeing, Sport England and The Royal Collage Of Occupational Therapists among others to create The Therapeutic Value of Cycling - a resource for healthcare professionals
You can download it here.
Rosemary Hill from SC4A said: “We hope that it will enable occupational therapists and other medical professionals to have the information and confidence to support disabled people and people with long-term health conditions to experience the joys of cycling and all the benefits that come with it.”
You can take part in SC4A’s regular sessions in Hillsborough Park, with a variety of special bikes designed to suit everyone, no matter what type of disability or long term health condition you have. “Cycling is amazing. We’re making it accessible for everyone,” says Rosemary.
