A doctoral student looking into the ‘gig economy’ and how it affects disabled people in the jobs market is looking for interviewees to help with her project. Ioana Cerasella Chis, who is in the first year of a PhD at Birmingham’s politics department wants to speak to disabled, neurodiverse and/or chronically ill people who are on zero-hours, fixed-term or seasonal contracts.All participants will be paid in line with the Real Living Wage for their help.

Smoking harms the immune system, reducing the body’s natural protection against infections, like Coronavirus.Smokers are therefore at greater risk of getting acute respiratory infections, having an infection last longer and that infection being more serious than it would be for someone who does not smoke. There are growing concerns that people with specific medical conditions who are unable to shop for food are still not recognised as eligible for an emergency government delivery scheme. People who need to be self-isolating are still having to visit shops in person as they cannot get the help they need, nor any timeslots they need for online delivery. Remember to keep up to date with the Disability Sheffield Coronavirus Information and Support page, where you can find information about local support groups that provide help with shopping or know of deliveries from food shops in your area.

Asperger’s Children & Carers Together (ACCT) have relaunched their fortnightly Young Adults Group ‘ACCTing Out’for over 18s. The group aims to provide support and social opportunities, as well as develop life, social and communication skills. Upcoming events are announced for February and March.
