Be Part Of Health Research

The National Institute for Health and Care Research have launched the ‘Shape the Future’, campaign calling on people to be part of research which helps to discover new and better ways to treat diseases, improve the NHS and the quality of care across the country. Anyone can take part in research whether you have a health condition or not, at a local hospital, GP practice or even at home.

Pressure Ulcer Prevention at Home

Skills for Care is working with the University of Leeds on a study trying to find out what resources Personal Assistants need to help them prevent pressure ulcers at home. The project is looking for personal assistants who support people with long term neurological conditions in the community , who are willing to take part in a face-to-face focus group meeting in Leeds on the 4th of July.

Autism Post Diagnosis Research Report

Researchers at Sheffield University have been finding out what support the autistic community wants after getting an autism diagnosis.Their report recommends that emotional and psychological support, person-centred support, practical support, support to understand autism, support with relationships and accessible support delivery are key priorities.

Autism Post Diagnostic Research Findings

Earlier this year three online workshops for autistic adults were held at the University of Sheffield to hear their views on what post-diagnostic support should look like for autistic adults. Researchers Dr Megan Freeth, Dr Daniel Poole and Suzy Crowson are sharing their findings from their research study on improving support for autistic adults at an online workshop on Thursday 30th June from 1-2pm.

If you received your diagnosis as an adult from a UK service within the last ten years they would be grateful for your input. Researchers from The University of Sheffield are working on a usability project to embed equality, diversity and inclusion in usability testing. Online and in-person events (interviews, focus groups and round table discussions) are taking place in Sheffield during March, April and May 2022 offering a £25 voucher for participants’ time and additional travel costs

Disabled Lay Researchers Needed

Shaping Our Lives is recruiting disabled researchers for a project exploring how social workers are using digital technologies when working with disabled adults. This is part time freelance work for a study that runs from 10th May 2021 to 28th Feb 2022. Researchers will be paid at a rate of £30 per hour requiring a commitment of at least 3.5 hours per week and up to 7 hours per week on average. The closing date for applications is Friday 23rd April.

A postgraduate research project is aiming to study how disabled people experience moving around Sheffield with a specific focus on experiences of using pavements. Laura Harryman is looking for participants over the age of 18, from the Sheffield area who have a mobility impairment. Tools for Life Research Project Seeking Views on Patient Data

Sheffield University is inviting members of the public, patients, and health professionals to take part in interviews which aim to explore what people think about sharing patient data/medical records for purposes beyond their individual care, e.g. for research to improve treatments or healthcare services. The research is being managed by the Information School at the University who are looking for people aged 25-44 or 65 plus from a range of different backgrounds to take part. To say thank you for your time, all participants will receive a £30 Amazon voucher which will be emailed to you after the interview.
