Skills for Care is working with the University of Leeds on a study trying to find out what resources Personal Assistants need to help them prevent pressure ulcers at home. The project is looking for personal assistants who support people with long term neurological conditions in the community , who are willing to take part in a face-to-face focus group meeting in Leeds on the 4th of July.

We are aware this is a long-standing, ongoing problem and are looking to collect evidence to see how we can help it be further addressed. 2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when we join thousands of charities and voluntary organisations recognising the often unseen contribution volunteers make to the work of their host organisations and society as a whole. This year’s theme is ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ and we want to take the time during Volunteers’ Week to say a big thank you to our volunteers and celebrate your efforts and all you contribute to Disability Sheffield.

Did you know that if you are disabled, have ordered a new car through Motability and are in receipt of certain benefits you can apply for a grant to take up to 40 hours of driving lessons? The scheme works in partnership with the AA Driving School, which has instructors across the UK. When the grant has been approved, the AA will find an instructor who will then contact you to arrange your first lesson.
