They are not necessarily expecting anyone to have prior trustee experience and are particularly keen to talk to people with experience of the issues faced by their clients either personally or professionally, whose values match their own.

Sheffield is creating a unique, long-lasting, and creative memorial as a tribute to people who have died from Covid, those who have lost loved ones and people who have been affected by the pandemic. Stories from the Pandemic is inviting everyone across the city to share their stories either on their website or on postcards which are available in libraries, museums and other city venues.

A Sheffield Theatres’ scheme to get disabled people involved in theatre work has proved to be a great success with live performances taking place at a popular Yorkshire venue.Several of those involved on the courses – both on the teaching and being taught sides – were Sheffield-based, including our very own Disability Sheffield news volunteer, John Quinn.

From 14th until the end of June the free #EqualTreatment seminars and follow up workshops aim to share the lived experiences of health and social care services and support of B.A.M.E families with children and adults with learning disabilities. They will consider how to challenge and address racism and inequalities locally and regionally as service providers, communities and families and call for action, accountability and a commitment for change.

South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation has set up a JustGiving page asking for donations to a Sheffield Cost of Living Fund from anyone who feels able to help those who are struggling more than them.The fund will be made available as grants to organisations, including food banks, that are supporting local people with the cost of living crisis.The Chancellor announced new measures to support low income households at the end of April.

Last week Sheffield Transport 4 All wrote to new Mayor Oliver Coppard highlighting key items of their response to the South Yorkshire Enhanced Bus Partnership. The letter calls for SYMCA to take more of a role in providing support for the group as the mayoral authority gains more influence over transport and moves this away from local authorities.

Sheffield Health and Care Partnership is encouraging as many people as possible across the city to have a “what matters to you” conversation with someone on Thursday 9th June as part of an International Person Centred Campaign.The campaign organisers claim that having better, more meaningful conversations with others about what matters to them, helps people feel more confident, more motivated and more likely to achieve their ambitions.
