  • Human Rights Outrage of Mental Capacity Amendment Bill

    Disability Sheffield has joined with over one hundred social care sector organisations by signing an open letter to Ministers criticising the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill.The letter puts on public record serious concerns about the content, progress and passage of the Bill saying the reforms pose a real threat to the human rights of people requiring the greatest support in life.

  • Making a New Home – Holocaust Memorial Day

    Disability Sheffield and the Disability Hub were represented at the Holocaust Memorial Day on the 28 January by Debbie Sunday. Debbie composed and recited a moving piece, questioning how we support those displaced by genocide and war in making a new home. The theme of the Memorial Day this year was Torn from Home.

  • Student Advisors Needed to Develop Training for Workplace PAs

    We are developing training for students who might need to employ a Workplace Personal Assistant when they graduate. We are seeking to recruit 3 advisors , who are current students or recent graduates of Sheffield Hallam University or the University of Sheffield , to help us develop the training. You will receive a one off £150 payment when the work is complete. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 13th February.

  • Free Training for Personal Assistants : Emergency First Aid at Work

    Places are still available on our Emergency First Aid at Work course on 11 February from 9.30am to 4.30pm at Moorfoot Learning Centre.This qualification will enable learners to attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations.You must be physically able to carry out the practical elements of the course such as CPR and the recovery position.

  • Crowdfunding Campaign launched for Sheffield Cycling 4 All

    Project Chainge, a new initiative from cycling podcast The HKT Podcast, aims to raise £2,000 to buy specially adapted bikes to support children and adults with various difficulties and disabilities for Sheffield Cycling 4 All and the Mental Health Cycling Project.

  • #IWILLNOTBEDELETED : Disability Sheffield's Tess Daly stars in Rimmel campaign to combat beauty cyberbullying

    Tess Daly, Disability Sheffield’s Individual Employer Project Co-ordinator, appears alongside Rita Ora and Cara Delevine in an emotive film made by cosmetics giant “Rimmel London”, detailing authentic stories of being on the receiving end of beauty cyber-bullying.Last year, 115 million images were deleted from social media because of beauty cyberbullying. The #IWILLNOTBEDELETED campaign,aims to take a stand against this trend.

Our very own Sheffield Voices learning disability group has launched a new fundraising Christmas card ( see picture ) featuring a festive drawing by members of the group with the message: ‘A time for happiness, time for friendship, a time for loved ones.   • Shop for Disability Information at Sainsbury's

    Disability Sheffield is in store on 3rd December to highlight the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. We are proud and grateful to be the Local Charity Of The Year for Sainsbury’s Division Street branch and we’ll be there with an information stall from 11am to 2pm.Having a presence in the store is a great opportunity for Sainsbury’s customers calling in over lunchtime to meet the faces behind our logo ,find out all about our work in the city and the services we offer and for us to say thank you in person.
