Zest Announce Human Library Event

Sheffield based community enterprise Zest are holding a ‘Human Library’ event on 23 June between 4:00 – 7:00pm at Zest Centre, 18 Upperthorpe, S6 3NA. A visitor to the Human Library can choose a Book from a range of titles. The difference is that the Books on offer are people, and reading is a conversation. The event aims to help foster communities in Sheffield where everyone feels welcomed. Respectful conversations with people from varying backgrounds will seek to positively challenge people’s attitudes and behaviours towards members of their communities who are at risk of exclusion or marginalisation. There are 12 ‘books’ for you to come and ‘read,’ with titles including a Carer, Muslim woman, LGBT, Older person, Asylum Seeker, Disability. For more information on the event, click here. If you have any questions, please contact Megan on 07792191522 or e mail megan.drury@zestcommunity.co.uk

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.
