Direct payments are paid by the council to a person to cover the costs of their social care and support. They offer flexibility and choice in the way that support is arranged.
Disability Sheffield is looking for your experiences, views, knowledge, and insights about direct payments in Sheffield. This is to help develop good support and ways of working for people using direct payments.
We want to gather information in several ways:
Direct Payment Diaries
We are looking for 20 people to share with us day to day experiences over a 1 month period. People taking part will be trained and supported to complete a direct payment diary.
Focus Groups
We will hold several focus groups with people receiving direct payments, users of social care (but those not receiving
a direct payment), direct payment support services and community
groups.
Survey
We will share a short survey with questions about information, administration, the impact, support and ideas for change
about direct payments.
We are also looking for people to get involved in the project board and other activities as part of this strategic review. We will present the information we collect to Sheffield City Council and this will be used to help shape the future of direct payment support in Sheffield.
