Voluntary Action Sheffield is hunting for the city’s ‘quiet heroes’ in order to recognise and reward them for their good work.
The organisation, based at The Circle in the city centre, has launched its second ‘Make A Difference Awards’, which recognise and celebrate the individuals and organisations working to make a difference to the lives of people and communities in Sheffield.
The awards are open to all and any individual, voluntary/ community/ faith group, charitable organisation or social enterprise working in Sheffield can be nominated. There are several categories including Employment and Skills, Health and Wellbeing, Inclusion and Equality, Resilient Communities, Sheffield Volunteering, Voice and Influence and Champion of the Sector.
VAS, which has provided support and leadership for the voluntary sector for over 90 years, has teamed up with the National Open College Network ( NOCN ), which has recently moved their headquarters into the centre of Sheffield and is now the awards’ main sponsor.
