Understanding the Effects of Long Covid on the Disability Community

We want to find out from the disability community what your experiences are of accessing support for symptoms related to long covid.

We know from research that people with long term health conditions/disabilities present differently with long covid and can be dismissed, have their symptoms tied to their existing conditions, or not taken seriously by medical practitioners. We also know that there is a lack of information in accessible formats for people with learning disabilities and that this group would struggle to self-identify long covid without this information.

We are holding this focus group so that you can come along and talk to us so that we can properly understand the issues you are facing.

We have booked this free event on Wednesday 24th May from 4.30 to 7pm at Sharrow Community Forum to accommodate people who might work or attend day services. We are offering FREE pizzas as we know people will be hungry at this time.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
