The Health and Disability Employment Gap

6.8 million working age people are disabled or have a health condition that can make work challenging. As people work later in life, more of them will need to balance the demands of work and managing a health condition. Citizens Advice has published the findings of research which explores the health and disability employment gap. The research finds that people who are disabled or have a health condition can face a range of barriers to work. They are much less likely to be employed and are twice as likely to fall out of work. In order to help more people get into employment, the charity claims that support from employers and the benefit system needs to improve.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
