The Big Public Transport Survey.

The Big Public Transport Survey.

People with a learning disability are being asked what they think about the public transport system and how it can be improved.

The Mencap charity has set up The Big Public Transport Survey to find this out. They’d like to ask you some questions about you and your experiences using public transport. There are questions on other topics too, such as wellbeing, community and work.

Disability Sheffield’s self advocacy group Sheffield Voices has also given some extra advice on how to give feedback to Mencap. This includes:

  • Contacting Mencap Directly: Reach out through their main contact channels: Email: info@mencap.org.uk or phone: 020 7696 5740
  • Expressing interest: Communicate your interest in joining the Policy Shapers Group and express the desire to represent Sheffield Voices.
  • Providing details: Share details about the individual’s or group’s experience, reasons for wanting to join, and any specific areas of interest or expertise in policy-making. And
  • Following Up: If you don’t receive a response within a reasonable time, a follow-up email or phone call can help ensure your inquiry is addressed.

You can take the survey here.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
