A BBC News journalist, who is investigating social care charges mainly involving disabled people, is looking for people to help with his work.
Adam Eley is specifically looking to speak to people who have had debt collection procedures opened against them by their local authority as a result of being unable to pay social care charges. All information shared with Adam will be used on a confidential basis to understand more about how social care recipients are being affected.
Adam says “ We are looking to cover the issue of local authorities’ debt collection policies. It is not tied to a particular programme, but is likely to run on BBC News television and radio programmes and the BBC News website, which should enable our reporting to bring maximum awareness to the issue.
At this stage, we are looking to speak to people on a confidential basis to understand more about the impacts debt collection procedures are having on them and their families. These can be individuals of any age and in part of the country.
Our coverage will then look to give a voice to some of those who have been affected – although we appreciate this is not for everyone, which is why we are happy to speak to people on a confidential basis too.”
