SC4A Outdoors and Indoors Action

Sheffield Cycling 4 All is getting back to park life with group and solo sessions being set up due to the relaxation of lockdown regulations – however there are still online activities for those who may not be able to get out

The inclusive cycling project, run by Disability Sheffield had to curtail its events in Hillsborough Park due to the Coronavirus crisis but now is back in action with even more sessions than before.

These include pre-booked one-hour slots from Monday to Thursday. Priority for these will be given to individuals with PAs or carers. Then on Friday there will be group sessions, again using the specially-adapted bicycles and trikes designed to suit people with a variety of disabilities.

And you won’t be able to get away from the wheels at weekends either, as there will now be monthly Saturday sessions, starting this Saturday (24th April) and taking place on the last Saturday of each month. Places are limited for these one-hour slots, although several cycles will be available, so you could take a trip with family and friends if you fancy.

Meanwhile, if you’d prefer a bit of indoor exercise and have access to Zoom, the Boxing 4 All (Mondays 12-1pm), Yoga 4 All (Tuesdays – 7-8pm) and Dance 4 All (Friday – 12-1pm) sessions are still ongoing.

The Move And Chat (now known as Movement 4 All) sessions that have been running for the last year on Wednesdays are coming to a close at the end of the month as trainer Joe is going back to gym-based work.

So Sheffield Cycling 4 All masterminds Tom and Rosemary are now looking at the possibility of recruiting another exercise coach or doing something completely different for the Wednesday zoom class (currently 11-12noon). And are throwing it open to any suggestions. Like the classes still taking place they’d like it to be accessible, easy for people with different disabilities to do and something you can do if you have a PA or carer.

If you have any ideas, or want to attend any events, feel free to contact info@sheffieldcycling4all.org or call or text on 07565 695 296 (Rosemary) or 07922 183 338 (Tom)

The latter also stars in a new video to show off the new recumbent ICE trike which is available to borrow, while Jane from Yoga 4 All has made a new video of breathing exercises.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
