Round-up Of New Opportunities

Round-up Of New Opportunities

Opportunity Sheffield, the employment and skills service in Sheffield City Council, has released its latest news bulletin.

It is made up of programmes which help employed and unemployed people advance their careers through new jobs, apprenticeships, work placements, courses and other training options. It also hosts a range of regular events, where potential candidates, employees and/or employers can meet each other.

Among those taking place in the next month are.

  • A Working Jobs Fair at Manor Lodge, 197 Manor Lane, S2 1UJ on Tuesday 6 June, from 10am-12pm No booking required – just drop in and you talk to a range of local employers about their current roles, plus talk to the Opportunity Sheffield team about other work and training options.
  • Representatives from Opportunity Sheffield’s programmes will have a stall inside the entrance of The Moor Market on Friday 9 June from 8.30am to 4pm. Team members will be on hand to talk people through their programmes, including Advance Sheffield (training), Advancing Digital (digital training) and Sector Routeways (sector specific training and work placements).
  • Sector Routeways, which give local people the opportunity to gain skills, undertake work experience and enter sustained employment in one of Sheffield’s growth sectors. Each Routeway consists of up to 2 weeks of training, with a work placement shortly after. Previous qualifications and experience are not required.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
