Sheffield Cycling 4 All is calling out for people to help them win their bid for new storage facilities in their Hillsborough Park base.
The project – run by Disability Sheffield – has been in operation for ten years and offers all-inclusive cycling sessions for people with a range of disabilities. Although these sessions are not taking place at the moment due to the lockdown, co-ordinators Tom and Rosemary have set up online fitness and yoga sessions, and there will also be dance classes starting in February.
Meanwhile they have won funding for storage space to keep their selection of adapted bikes after having to move from their original base due to alterations to the park’s amenities. The proposal is for three timber clad storage containers directly abutting the car park boundary between the Parkside Road entrance and the Penistone Road Gate House. The adjacent car parking spaces will be coned-off during the hours of operation to allow access through the carpark to store the equipment between sessions.
The proposed location was identified as the least damaging to the park’s amenity space and the settings of listed buildings, while also serving the requirements of the project for secure trike storage and convenient access.
Sheffield Cycling 4 All already has funding in place but would like people to contribute to the discussion about the planning proposal. Sheffield City Council has set up an online survey to gauge opinions on the storage space itself and how it should look. You can find more details of the proposal here. If you would like to see the details in an alternative format, you can email rosemary@sheffieldcycling4all.org
The survey closes on 3 February.
