Sheffield City Council has issued advice on staying safe this Christmas.
This takes the form of a video in which Greg Fell, Director of Public Health in the city, goes through ten helpful principals for you to carefully consider whilst planning your Christmas arrangements. These all reinforce maintaining all of the existing hygiene measures in place – hand washing, distancing, face coverings, bubbles, self-isolating, testing etc. – to reduce the potential of infection spreading. Meanwhile the UK Government, along with its Scottish and Welsh equivalents, have joined together to issue a statement on staying safe.
Their message is that a smaller Christmas is a safer Christmas, and a shorter Christmas is a safer Christmas.
It says: “We know the extraordinary lengths that people have gone to this year to protect their loved ones and the NHS. We know that people want to see life return to normal. And with vaccines now being deployed, next year we are confident it will do. But to get there safely, this cannot be a normal Christmas. We must continue to work together to prevent the spread of the virus, and to protect our friends, our families and our front-line workers.”
