Our Disability Community

Our Disability Community is a new website offering an “online platform for disabled people to share their experiences, hacks and tips on living life to the max with a disability.”

The site aims to bring the disabled community together to find ways to collect reviews, insights and first-hand accounts of the equipment and services disabled people use and identify how to make them better and help change and improve the systems and industries that serve disabled people,

Manal Al-Wadhan who designed the site says” I have found no real support or any equipment that can really help me manage my disability and I know I’m not alone in this experience. I believe things can be better than this; that by coming together and sharing our experiences we can build a voice and start to change things, get the equipment we all deserve properly designed and made.”

Our Disability Community want to hear from you about what works for you and what doesn’t, how you make your equipment reflect your personality and the little things that make each day better.

You can help the website to grow and develop by interacting with the site at Our Disability Community

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference
