My Employment Plan

My Employment Plan

This week marks the launch of the “My Employment Plan” – a tool created by people with lived experience and employment organisations across South Yorkshire to help a person and their employer talk about and agree on things that might help them both in the workplace.

The plan aims to help you and your employer talk about and agree things that might help you both whilst in the workplace. The changes or plans that you agree to help you at
work are sometimes called ‘reasonable adjustments’. Every person and every employer is different. This employment plan might not include everything you need but it is designed to be a helpful tool. You might want to add your own questions to it.

The plan is available to download on the Employment is for Everyone website

Kelly Scargill, Project Officer for Sheffield Voices at Disability Sheffield , who helped to co-produce this resource said:

“When looking for something for my own use as an Autistic Adult in full-time employment, I found there was quite a gap in resources that were for neurodiverse/autistic individuals.
Existing employment wellness plans were available online, but the wording wasn’t quite right. For example, I found a mental health action plan which had a section about what support someone needed when they were unwell. For me, I’m not unwell, I’m Autistic and my support needs and functioning varies, and I want to see that language reflected in my workplace plan”.

Very good presentation, brave of the speakers to tell their stories and had a very high impact - feedback from Mate/Hate Crime presentation and video session at Safeguarding Working Together Conference

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
