Major Victory for Family in Cornwall

In an important case for the rights of people with learning disabilities a mother and her son with learning disabilities were awarded damages after the Local Government Ombudsman found that Cornwall Council had failed in its duties. The Council failed to assess his needs properly and there was delay after delay. You can read the full details of what the Local Government Ombudsman said here . Dr Simon Duffy, Director of The Centre for Welfare Reform said about this case “Too often people and families find themselves battling for their basic rights. Often families give in, because it is too painful to continue. But when they do continue to battle on they can win. When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)
