Have you had Long Covid or been affected by it in some way? If so you may want to share your experiences and help medical professionals sort out strategies to help others.
Project Echo, based at St Luke’s Hospice in Sheffield, has set up a group exploring the impact of long covid, and how and where people can get the right support.
It will be an opportunity to help develop support and teach health, social care and voluntary organisations ways to work better with those who have the illness.
Subjects that will be covered include:
• you and your family’s day to day living with Long Covid.
• access to hospital, GP services and voluntary teams
• access to the right information and support for you
• the knowledge and confidence of all the teams looking after patients.
• your confidence in knowing what support is out there.
The organisers say: “We know that living with Long Covid can be very difficult. It is hard to describe at times, but your experience matters to us. We know that you may have lots of symptoms, feel very tired and might also feel very worried and low in mood. You may be starting to return to work, or be in the middle of getting hospital tests done or just about managing at home.
Sharing stories and experience can be upsetting at times. Many people tell us that they haven’t felt listened to or supported and feel isolated at work and even at home. We want to say to you that we will listen to and support you as best we can and learn from all of your experience with Long Covid. This will help us all improve what we offer to support you and your family.
The next sessions will be held on the following dates;
Thursday 27th January 13:30-15:00
Thursday 24th February 13:30-15:00
Thursday 31st March 13:30-15:00
Thursday 28th April 13:30-15:00
There are several ways to join in the sessions, including:
• attending the Patient Engagement session via your smartphone or computer
• joining with a support team at a voluntary organisation,
• sharing your experience with us by completing the questionnaire
If your energy levels and concentration are low, or you need any reasonable adjustments to join in, we can support you telling us parts of your story in future sessions on the phone or by video, so that you can save your energy for the things that matter to you.”
