Let’s Talk About Restraints Toolkit

For the last two years we have been collaborating with Active Independence and the Individual Employer and PA Group to develop some useful downloadable resources that can be simply used by Individual Employers to train their own staff, any health and social care worker who works with disabled people and other interested parties. We have recently launched an online resource which has been funded by Skills for Care. Its aim is to encourage and facilitate carers, personal assistants and individual employers to navigate the difficult subject of restraint. The toolkit guides you through the process of delivering training and has all the materials you need to deliver either a 3 hour training session or shorter depending on how much time you are able to give. You can read the initial milestone report about the project and find the toolkit here . It is important that we continue to have conversations that some people might find difficult to have but unless we do, change will never happen.

A fantastic presentation thought provoking and good questions from the floor around promoting this film/message to the general public not just professionals.

When I moved to Sheffield nearly five years ago it was my "go to" organisation. I expect it to stay that way. All the staff and volunteers seem to pull out little gems of effort that disabled people like me couldn't do without. Professionally and personally - I love em :)

Disability Sheffield is a forward-thinking, energetic organisation doing a lot of positive work in Sheffield. I have no doubt they will continue to do so for a long time to come.
